Hi, Geraldine! Tell us a little about yourself!
I was born in a small town in Flanders in Belgium. The country of a good recipe for Waterzooi (a kind of stew of vegetables, fresh fish, and beer sauce). A country where everyone rides their bikes, whether the sun is shining, or in rain or snow!
I saw my parents helping and healing with natural therapies. Each time, food played a fundamental role in the recovery of the patients.
“Work” is a word that is not in my dictionary from a young age. I have naturally been involved in responding to needs that arise, out of conviction, or responsibility. This makes the days particularly happy and long! I joined my Mauritian husband, Albert d´Unienville, in 2003 on this fantastic island of Mauritius and was touched by his sincerity, his ardor, and also his innovative spirit to find solutions to island challenges. My experience within the European Union in Brussels for 3 years has enabled me to value the social, health, environmental and economic impact of NGOs in the field.
When we created the association Le Vélo Vert in 2012 to meet a specific health need, we did not realize the scale that our approach, together with that of our partners and members, would generate. We discovered a voluntary island that has the power to build its own identity to live in the future that awaits us.

In Mauritius, Geraldine D’Unienville-Le Velo Vert encourages men and women to carry out their gardening without chemicals. That ensures the distribution of all the harvested vegetables and fruits. Which are cultivated according to the strict organic quality charter of the Le Velo Vert Label.
Geraldine D’Unienville-Le Velo Vert has set up EMBEROI training (expansion in organic market gardening with regional expertise in the Indian Ocean). That ensures that each farmer receives technical support as well as the sharing of experiences and good practices within the platform.
Health within reach of our forks!
We bought the Family basket – it was nice and varied, delicious and fresh. How do the clients know what to expect when ordering their basket?
We love it when people love us! Thank you, it gives us courage in our hands and in our boots 🙂 The weekly basket is a surprise from the vegetable garden – it all depends on the season and availability of unrushed, natural growth.
Usually, it is a harmonious basket with a quarter of fruit and three-quarters of vegetables, with aromatic gifts for the fragrance bouquet!
Tell us more!
I always advise the client to visit the farmer-producer on his family farm to confirm satisfaction with the production methods. The pleasure and the flavors on the plate will only be better! Most importantly, Le Velo Vert welcomes our consumers also for family harvests. Here’s to great health!
Thanks, Geraldine, our SuperSeed, for this innovative way to farm in Mauritius. We are super happy to be your exclusive partner to sell certified organic produce on our site!
