To safely exfoliate your skin, you’ll also need a large bowl or basin of warm, soapy water. This is especially important for exfoliating your feet or hands. If you want to use a pumice stone on your elbows, face, or neck, consider using this stone while taking a shower.

Other accessories you need include:

• soft towel
• moisturizer (cream, lotion, or oil)
• moisturizing socks (optional)
• bristled brush to clean the pumice stone

Silicone is arguably more environmentally friendly than plastic, as plastic is not as hardy or long lasting as silicone is — and silicone is more inert that plastic, which means it has a lower chance of leaching chemicals. Because silicone is so durable, it doesn’t easily biodegrade or decompose. While normal plastics break down into dangerous microplastic pieces that can ingested by wildlife and ocean life, silicone doesn’t break down much at all (it’s that good!).
